8bit Ego was founded by cousins Jenai & Jehrome, born from their sheer frustration as modern day gamers.
Tired of the media’s warped and stereotypical views on anything from violence to reviews, the repetitive and endless dribble of PR led gaming events with no real impact and an overall lack of access or representation of what gaming culture is. They decided it was about time someone stepped up to the challenge and change the game once and for all.
Over the past few years the team behind 8bit Ego have been very busy, amassing various successful ventures on and offline.
Whether it’s hitting a million unique downloads on established music blog, Ego Thieves, collaborations with Louis Vuitton on their in-house fashion blog, Five Five Fabulous or creating the rebranding of Granada Studios through their creative agency, Ego By Design, the team have proven time and time again their ability to apply creativity and turn them into viable businesses.
One of the first platforms and music blogs for exclusive downloadable DJ mixes for Dubstep & underground music. Ego Thieves has helped launch the careers of Doctor P, Flux Pavilion, Borgore, Cookie Monsta & more, as well as become a fundamental hub of heritage for current electronic music.
Five Five Fabulous is a lifestyle blog run by sisters Reem & Natalya Kanj (who also happens to be Jenai’s wife). Started in frustration at not being able to secure a career in the fashion sector after leaving university, it is now a force to be reckoned with and one of the UK & UAE’s leading blogs.
Inspected is a record and clothing label, An organic self-funded project created out of a bedroom by two like-minded friends. Initially, it sought to provide a diverse platform to connect with musicians and fans alike and has now grown into respected fashion house and accompanying record label.
Video games are no longer considered a niche entertainment market, they are mainstream, commercial, underground and independent: gaming on your TV, mobile, tablet & handhelds while at work, at home, on the train or even on the toilet. Yet somehow, video game marketing seems stuck, almost archaic and lost in the world of the mainstream commercial practises.
We’re sick of it, it’s time the industry got shaken up from the inside out. No more generic PR events made for other PR companies, no more cheesy ad campaigns that are simply forgettable and please, no more D-list celebrity endorsements that devalue anything they put they’re grubby little mitts on.
What makes us so sure we’re the right people to change the game? It’s simple – we’re the target market you’re trying to reach.

In 2015 and beyond, most people’s first impression of your product is online and believe us when we say, first impressions still count.
We’re here to make sure you have the best website design, branding, identity and online presence. Making sure you know your sans from your sans serif. We can even consult on everything from music used in your game, box art designs and even a reputable line of merchandise.
We want to make sure your product is developed to the highest standards of todays, quite frankly, fussy gamers.
Don’t know your pinning from your posting? Never heard of Twitch, Polygon or PewDiePie? Never fear, we’re here to make sure you don’t make those vital ‘fail’ moments on the internet.
Everything from the right lighting for your Instagram images, to those precious 7 seconds you have for your latest Vine campaign, we have you covered.
Whether you’re launching a new phone, game, TV, tablet or phablet, we’re here to make sure you’re using the right hashtag for all your digital strategy needs.
We know what gamers want to see, we know what makes us laugh, cry and get angry. Most of what gets us angry is generic mass marketing techniques that make us feel faceless and just another statistic. The gaming culture demographic is complex, with different needs, interests, ages, creeds and classes.
As gamers are individuals and want to be treated as such, don’t pigeon hole us, tell us what to do, when to do it and how. We pride ourselves on understanding the unique position of video game culture, because after all, we’re the people buying your products, so who better to come up with the ideas on how to sell them?
Let us create an event that will actually have an impact on your current fan-base, as well as introduce your product, brand or idea to a whole new demographic.
Watch celebs beg for an invite, gamers queuing around the block and blow the press away with something they have never seen before. No more shady venues, overly budgeted stage shows and booking those cool ‘hip hop’ dancers you’ve never heard of from that ‘google’ thingy.
We create ideas that are made to last and our golden rule is – we will only ever create a launch event that we would go to ourselves. Because after all, we’re the people who want to buy your product.
Here are some of examples of the amazing brands we’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with.
